The project
More than
a concert
Ocean World is a collaborative sustainability project running across eight months of the academic year, from September 2026 to the performance in April 2027. It brings together schools, universities, organisations and people of all ages across Muscat — culminating in an exhibition with a concert at its heart.
The final musical performance is only one part of the journey. Everything that leads up to it — the research, the artwork, the films, the conversations — is the project.

Only some of the students taking part will stand on the stage. The rest are researching, filming, painting, building exhibition stands and running campaigns — and the project does not work without them.

bring?
Ocean World is open to anyone — schools, universities, choirs and community groups, businesses, families and individuals, at any age. The options below are the ones we have thought of so far. They are starting points, not a closed list, so if you can see a way in that is not here, that is the one we would most like to hear about.
Option 01
Choir & Musicians
Sing or play at OCEC on 25 April 2027 — as a choir member from age 7 upwards, a soloist, or an instrumentalist at Grade 7 or above.

Option 01
Choir
participation
Everyone taking part gets a resource pack with learning tracks for every song. Learn them in your own time or as an established choir, then come together for two combined rehearsals and one performance at OCEC. Nobody has to arrive already knowing the music.

- How?
- A resource pack with learning tracks Everyone who signs up receives recordings of every song. Hand them to individual students to learn in their own time, or use them with an established choir to learn the repertoire together — whichever suits you. The combined rehearsals then bring all the separate work into one room.

- Roles
- Three ways to be on stage
- Choir members — the body of the performance, from age 7 upwards. No audition and no previous experience needed.
- Soloists — a small number of solo lines within the work, for singers with the confidence to carry them.
- Instrumentalists — players accompanying the choir. Grade 7 and above on your instrument.
Options 02 – 04
Beyond the music
No musical participation required. Schools can contribute through the curriculum or through ECAs — and community groups, families and individuals can do exactly the same work independently. What follows is a set of examples, not a syllabus.

No musical participation required. Options 02, 03 and 04 stand entirely on their own — you can take part in full without a single note being sung.

The ocean on Oman's doorstep is under pressure now, and the generation that will live with the consequences is the one asking to be heard. Ocean World gives them a platform — and it needs companies willing to stand behind it. Every contribution, however large or small, puts a young person's voice in a room where it would not otherwise be heard. Support does not have to be financial.

In conjunction with Oman 3165
Oman 3165 is a sea-kayak expedition along the whole of Oman's coastline — all 3,165 kilometres of it, from Musandam in the north to Dhalkut in the far south — led by Mark Evans. Ocean World is run in conjunction with it, so the students are not working from a textbook. They are working from a coast someone has just paddled the length of.
